Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is 620 film and which cameras use it?
A: 620 film is the same width as 120 film but uses a narrower, thinner spool. It was used in many Kodak cameras from the 1930s–1960s including the Kodak Brownie Hawkeye, Kodak Medalist, Kodak Monitor, Kodak Vigilant, and Argus 75. 620 spools are not interchangeable with 120 spools.

Q: Is this film respooled or native 620?
A: This film is respooled — Shanghai GP3 100 120 emulsion is transferred onto genuine 620 spools in a darkroom. The film itself is identical to GP3 100 120; only the spool is different.

Q: Can I use 120 film in a 620 camera instead?
A: In most cases, no. The 620 spool is narrower and thinner than 120, so 120 film will not fit in most 620 cameras without modification. Our respooled 620 film is the easiest solution.

Q: How many exposures does a roll of GP3 100 620 give?
A: Typically 8 exposures at 6x9cm or 12 exposures at 6x6cm, depending on your camera.

Q: What developers work best with GP3 100 620?
A: The same as GP3 100 120: D-76 (1:1), HC-110 (Dilution B), Rodinal (1:50), and ID-11. Development times are identical to GP3 100 120.

Q: How should I store GP3 100 620 film?
A: Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Refrigeration at 4–8°C is recommended for long-term storage. Allow film to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation.
